On Christmas Day you can't get sore, your fellow man you must adore, there's time to rob him all the more, the other 364. Relations sparing no expense will send some useless old utensil, or a matching pen & pencil, just the thing I need - how nice!
Some words from a rather cynical song about Christmas by Tom Lehrer. As with most humorous things, we laugh because we recognise an element of truth in them; in this case, gifts we didn't really want and never used or wore. Instead of agonising over what to buy for someone who doesn't really need or want anything, you may decide to give a different kind of gift this Christmas. Christian Aid is just one organisation that offers all kinds of gifts that you can give to someone who really needs it, in many parts of the world. £24 will buy 6 ducks for a family in Bangladesh, £27 will buy a sack of maize flour for a family in Zambia. There are huge varieties of gifts like these; you pay the sum, and receive a card to give to your relative and friend, telling them what the gift is. Christian Aid is just one such organisation running these schemes: there's Send a Cow, World Vision and many others. You can find them on the web, or contact me if you would like to know more.

A big thank you to everyone who attended the presentation on 1 November. All of the documentation and donation forms will be available for viewing and downloading from the website as soon as possible, but if anyone would like copies before then please send an e-mail to me at roundmeadow@btinternet.com, and I will send them to you individually. There are 2 separate files, both small and both available in PDF format.
Thank you!
