Vikings in Afghanistan

In December 2009 L/Cpl Adam Drane of 1st Battalion the Royal Anglian Regiment, based at Pirbright, was named as the 100th serviceman to die in Afghanistan in 2009. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and his fiancée, and with all those serving in the field of war and their loved ones.

Early in January came the sad news that another member of 1st Batallion the Royal Anglian Regiment had been killed, the first British soldier to die in 2010. He has now been named as Pte Robert Hayes, a rifleman with 6 Platoon, C (Essex) Company. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and his girlfriend as they come to terms with their loss.

We pray for a speedy resolution to the conflict and a safe return home for the Vikings and all other service personnel.
