Remembrance Sunday

The Remembrance Sunday service is always a profoundly moving service, as people from the whole village community come to Church to remember all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service and defence of their country. This year's service was no exception, and St Michael's was packed. We were delighted to welcome a contingent from the Royal Anglian Regiment, many of whose colleagues are now back in Afghanistan. The service honoured the names of all those who had died in both world wars and most especially this year those who have died in more recent conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. A very moving sermon was given at the service by one of the chaplains from Pirbright Camp, and wreaths were laid by the CO of 1st Battalion the Royal Anglian Regiment (the Vikings), Pirbright Army Training Centre, the Royal British Legion, Pirbright Parish Council, Pirbright Twinning Association, Pirbright WI, the Ancient Order of Foresters and Knowl Hill School.
